Message from President (Novara, 24-25 novembre 2006) “Improving Business Reporting: New Rules, New Opportunities, New Trends” November 24th-25th 2006, Novara (Italy) Dipartimento di Studi per l’Impresa e il Territorio Faculty of Economics Università del Piemonte Orientale Via Perrone 18, 28100 Novara, Italy
Dear Aidea Giovani members, professors, colleagues and friends, welcome to the 8th International Conference. It is a great honour for me beginning my term as President of Aidea Giovani with this International Workshop. The three years of my Presidency will be hard and challenging. With the Board members, we are actually defining the goals for the future of the association; to build upon our existing strengths, and to agree upon important and unique areas of development. Quality and internationalization will be our polar stars. Internationalization is not a challenge but an opportunity. We can not refuse it but we must accept it. And we Italians can contribute to the international debate with our sound roots but also with our innovative capabilities. To do this, we need to accept scientific international standards. We need to improve national prestige and reputation with rigorous researches and it’s necessary publishing in preminent international journals. In our plans there’s the idea to make AIDEA GIOVANI the right environment where a young researcher can experience scientific debate, specially at early stage, safely, openly and rigourosly. Our job needs great dedication. But I know that with your support we will succeed. The theme of the conference is topical and challenging, because the Aidea Giovani exists to provide a forum to debate actual and relevant concerns. Business reporting is undergoing a fundamental transformation. Market demand, regulatory requirements, transparency, technology advances have increased significantly. This leads to a sistematic consideration on the road to a comprehensive model for business reporting based on the kind of information and timing required by users. I have to thank a lot of people. First of all, my gratitude goes to our special guest speakers) Prof. Zeff is one of the leading accounting scholar, a prolific author that made a number of significant contributions in the area of international accounting. Moreover, We believe that the contributions and the problems of practice deserve attention so we are honoured to have here a representative of the accountancy profession world Dr. José Maria Bové, Vice-President FEE, who will bring us the practice perspective to the topic. Dr. Bovè, quisiera agradecerle su presencia y su contribucion al debate It is also necessary acknowledge the work of the Scientific Committee.
